Senior FAQ's

Q.  How many locations and outfits can we fit into our session?
Sessions usually last 90 minutes or a bit longer.  2-3 clothing changes are just about right for the length of time we will be photographing.  I always recommend choosing clothing that you feel great in – if you feel great, you’ll be confident, comfortable, and more relaxed. Many locations offer more than one "look", so we'll plan on two outfits at one location, then change again to a third outfit and drive to a second location.  Sports uniforms each count as one outfit.

Q.  How do I choose a location for my session?
Together we will talk about the look and feel that you want for your Portraits.  Maybe that means you love fields, streams, and bridges.  Maybe you prefer a more modern look with an old abandoned building, fire escape, and chipped paint.  Or perhaps you’re somewhere in the middle.  It's really helpful if you tell me what you plan to wear so I can pick a great background for each outfit. Whatever your style is, we can find a location that you love and will compliment what you plan to wear.  As your photographer, I carefully plan out a "script" for which outfit and location will be first, next, and so on, in order to maximize the flow of our time together.  On the day of our session, I'll meet you at our first location.

Q.  What about bad weather?
I will watch the weather closely as your session approaches.  If it looks like rain, we'll reschedule to a day/time as soon as possible.  Don't worry about clouds -- overcast days make excellent lighting for photos!

Q.  Is there money due at our session?
Yes.  Your deposit was paid, so the remainder of the session fee (plus tax) is due at the start of our session.  If you requested a third location, an additional fee is also required. Cash or check is fine!

Q.  When will my proofs be ready? Within a day or two following your Session, I will put a sneak peek image on Facebook and tag you or (most likely your parent). To get your proofs ready, I take time to find all the images that have potential to be your favorites, and delete images that are duplicate poses, are a little blurry, or have eyes closed.  About a week after our Senior Session, I will invite you to your own personal Gallery where you can view all of the edited images. Feel free to share the Gallery password with anyone you want.  Your Gallery will be full of UNedited images from our Session.  I ask that you NOT share unedited images on social media because they are not a reflection of the final product I will create for you. It's desirable that within 2 weeks of receiving your proof gallery, you look over the images and select your 10 favorites for me to edit.  NOTE: Your sneak peek is a freebie and will be yours in the gallery - you still get to pick 10 more to go with it!

Q.  Do I get all the photos from the session on a disk?
Your ten selected retouched images plus sneak peek will be available in your gallery in about a month. If you would like additional images, that's fine!  A $10 fee per additional image will be collected before editing the extras.   Basic retouching includes whitening teeth, removing blemishes, scratches, or a few stray hairs, and color correction.  Proofs not selected for editing will be deleted.  Unedited images will not be available or offered for purchase.  It is important to me that I only deliver the perfected, beautiful, portfolio quality work that I am known for.

Q. How will the school get my yearbook photo?
Your yearbook photo should be one of your selected ten images.  Each image in the gallery will have a number listed, so please specify which one you'd like for the yearbook. I will retouch and crop it to your school's specifications.  I will also email it to the yearbook advisor before the deadline for you!

Q.  Can I get my photos printed where I want?

Clients are encouraged to order professional prints from the session, and can do so right from your personal gallery once editing is complete!  Every senior session includes a free 8x10 and 5x7 with your order.  Items ship quickly, prices are very reasonable, and the prints always look great on luster paper.  Digital downloads of final images from the gallery are allowed so you can print where you want, but please be aware that many places that print photos do not offer the cropping, resizing, and color correcting capabilities that professional labs do. Photo paper quality varies by printer, as well. Your selected digital images will also be provided on a flash drive, ready for pick-up usually a few weeks after your gallery is complete.

Q.  Can you help me design a graduation invite?
I'd love to!  When the time comes, give me your grad party details and I can work on a few design options for you, using a variety of your senior photos.

I'm here to help!  If there's something I wasn't able to answer here, please call or email me.  I look forward to seeing you at our session!
